Some long words are difficult, but most are readable. The longer words are not important half of the time.

Length has nothing to do with it, it's the structure of them and how they are formed.

Anvil is a short word, yet it's confusing and formed oddly so it looks weird.

You can piece a paragraph together with just a few words.

This isn't the third grade, paragraphs mean 5 sentences, 9 words in every sentence. And I'm not talking about the 'see spot run' sentences, I'm talking about intelligent sentences. Knowing words like 'the', 'and', 'but', etc won't help you understand the geometric coding instructures in French when those words are the only ones you know.

Dutch is very similar to our language, most words are very easy to figure out.

A few words out of a paragraph just doesn't cut it.
