But what they DO have is

External Case -$70
Western Digital 80gb HDD-$68
or 120 is $94

They might charge you $5 to put it together.

So for an 80gb external drive you would pay $138
or for a 120gb external you pay $164

Although they are specific items so might need to call ahead and hope for an answer.

An external HDD is effectively an Internal HDD in a case.

There is no difference that im aware of between the 2 hard drives.

XTTZ try a place called "MSY" they are in umm near Chadstone shopping centre and also in pascoe vale.

They have arguably the cheapest computer part prices in melbourne.

Be prepared to wait though cause normally they have at least 10 people lined up  lol

They also have a dodgey website www.msy.com.au

Maxtor crashes constantly and I've never had any problems with the Western digital in my Pc, but all that's on that is my OS. All of my apps and programs are on my Seagate and It hasn't crashed once. However, all of these have been internal drives so I can't say anything for the quality of the externals provided by these companies.

the HDD spinning at 5200rpm or 7200rpm isnt what spectre was talking about.

When connected internally they are connected via an IDE or SATA connection which will be much faster than a USB1.0 or 2.0 connection.

Oh also Seagate are better but for your purpose Western Digital are fine.

Should be faster if you have like firewire or sumat.

I think Western Digital is decent, but haven't had experience with em much. I remember Coma told me once he reckons that Seagates are indestructible.
