That way you would have to know somebody on the boards to get in. I've been on a few boards with this system, and it dramatically cuts down on the registration.

The fact that it requires an e-mail however does not delay it very much. Even if the delay were lengthened, they would still be spamming.

An invitation system will also not work. We can not only allow members via invites, we need new users to be allowed without knowing old users.

I agree the spam is a problem, but as of now, there is nothing that can be done. Maybe if Zer upgrades the forum, then something can be done.
