You're also right about the intimacy of the game drawing people back to it.  I don't remember the last time I interacted with the various other games of played in the last decade, but I still come check the Faldon boards with some regularity.

Been playing WoW for a few years and it's really sad how limiting it is. Faldon and Uo were both great because they did not make you choose a "role" right off the bat and I wish some newer MMO's could follow this.

The one thing this game still does have though, is open ended character building; and with all these "new mmo's" that keep coming out; its disheartening because yoru stuck with 1 play type per class.. unlike true Faldon ways; where you can just about do anything you put your mind to.

Only time will tell if the recent changes that will be happening when time allows gets alot of us back.  Ironically; since I began playing this game -- its the -only- game I have ever gone to off and on over the last many many years.  No other game out can claim that.. even old school Ultima Online (Which.. I am tempted to try out again)

He has an updated client that works great, updated server, he fixed spells, fixed a lot of old coding, fixed enchantments, tons of stuff.

Its mostly a hobby for him, so nothing serious. So this can cause a lot of problems.
Hes still working on the new client and new server. So maybe when he finishes his degree, may see more action. But for now the game is just sitting mostly idle.
