Couple things, generally - you never want a banner to be that BIG, it needs to be half the size vertically.. the width is fine though. I think it would be a neat function.. but then youll also have to think about how the banner will affect server bandwidth, using it as a referral feature is fine - but if your going to be posting it up all over the place to get people to join, it will be constantly making calls and checks to the server which can open up issues along the way.

Perhaps maybe have a self-creating banner that takes a 'screenshot' of your characters current stats/top 5 skills, and then provides a link in the banner, instead of having a running update going on it like most games do nowadays - gives you a temporary sig usage that you can update whenever you like :-)

I'm guessing it doesn't allow images in signatures...

And you shouldn't be using .bmp as an image format for something you intend to put on the web, should probably convert it to .jpg orso.
