Server lag update:
First off, thank you again. Server lag seems to be overall much better.

I am not sure it is totally gone however. I seem to have experienced some at times, but I will admit that I am not on the best internet connection right now.

One checkable way to see if there is server lag would be to check the code for Faldon's Day cycle.
Is it set to Exactly 48 minutes and 0 seconds?
I have done some timers and it is always coming back at 48 minutes and 27 seconds.

The question is, what is causing the extra 27 seconds?
Is this the result of server lag/hardware, or something coding related, something else?

If it's still lagging, next things to investigate will be:
- replacing the OS drive
- seeing if somebody did a really bad job coding a script (probably should have looked at this first, but I know the hard drives were getting old)
Regardless, just being a SSD instead of a HDD should make many things snappier all around. Scripts that check player flags, etc.

Hello all,

I've upgraded the server today. Instead of 8GB of RAM, it now has 32GB. I've also replaced the two very old hard drives with two relatively new solid state drives.

The operating system drive is still ancient, so that will need to be replaced eventually, but *if* the cause of our lag problems was related to the hard drives, the solid state drives should be a meaningful improvement. If the actual problem was something else, well, this still needed to be done eventually.

I've also moved patching to my CDN server, so that people downloading patches doesn't lag the game server.

Enjoy

God bless.

James
