It should also display for stacked items, such as elven gold nuggets (stack of gold ores with name 163).

AFAIK it only shows named quest items' and those custom named items' proper names while in the player's inventory.  This has been the case for as long as i can remember.

Those names used to be displayed in inventory (and only inventory), but now the name is not displayed anywhere.

Ideally the name would be displayed everywhere instead of the regular item name, but at the very least display it in inventory.
