One could try reverse engineering the server and parts of the client. I though of doing this back in the day, when I had time but no network/programming skills, now things went the other way around. Nevertheless, I remember that someone was doing this and had some progress tho, I think it was Cazit  (or something like).

James, I know you're reading this. Man, either release the source or kill the server once and for all. You must free these people.
