These sound decent. Crisp, not overly obnoxious. Though the metal town wall gate's I imagine would have a little bit longer sound of maybe a chain winch. That sounds more like a small metal gate.

Sound has been missing in Faldon. It adds so much to atmosphere and immersion. I specifically remember the bird chirps from the really old client that always seemed simple, and subtle.

We need a sound person.

Soundrangers seems good for the price. But another good source is https://freesound.org/. Sort by CC0 license, and many of the sounds needs cleanup, formatting, clipping, etc. I found Audacity to be pretty versatile in the past for that.

Side note, this is a pretty cool demo of several day/night cycle sounds. https://web.archive.org/web/20080516173 … Glass.html It's a bit over the top with volume and noises, but interesting to consider day/night variation sounds or other atmospheric noises like a town.

We recorded most of our oldest sounds (/SfxDir... the skeleton death is straws on the keyboard, for example), but for the newer client we bought a bunch from SoundRangers as well (/Sounds). I think they're of pretty decent quality, given they're under $2 each. I'm thinking of getting some more, so that we have more complete sound effects in-game.

Here's what I've been looking at: https://soundrangers.sourceaudio.com/

For our standard door,
closing: old wood door 08 close
opening: old wood door 05 open

For our town gates,
closing: metal gate close 02
opening: metal gate close 05

will want to find some more

If you're interested in game sounds, post some feedback here. Is there a particular place in-game you think needs a sound? Which sound do you think should go there? There are a lot of sounds to listen to to find a good one. If you're bored, I'd be grateful for your help
