Topic: 2026/3/6 Update

There are still some problems with the map editor -- Ground Sets need a 'priority' so that they are placed in the correct order, instead of "newest-placed tile always on top", as things like the grass tiles need to be on top to not draw incorrectly.
That said, today's update gets it a *lot* closer to usable. The Line tool actually works correctly now, even for double-sided tilesets (though these are still somewhat difficult to work with).

This coming week I'll take a break from coding the map editor to see what else I can improve.

March 6, 2026:

The map editor now has Cut, Copy, and Paste.
The map editor now has a Spray tool.
The map editor now color-codes the highlighted tile when using double-sided Wall Sets.
The map editor's Box tool now maintains alignment in double-sided Wall Sets. (If you want an unaligned box, you can always make one with the Line tool.)
The map editor's Line tool now maintains alignment in double-sided Wall Sets.
The map editor's Line tool now connects segments when editing Wall Sets.
The map editor's Pencil and Spray tools now have a shape option.

Sweet edits!

Couple of things. The spray tool doesn't seem to work with Wall 1 for some reason. Would also be cool if you could create spray groups. Add a bunch of tiles (various trees) and then the spray randomly picks from that set rather than just 1 specific tile.

Love the copy/paste thing.

The alignment of double side walls is way better than it was before. Still gets it wrong on occasion but now it is pretty useful for building caves.

Hmm. Wall 1 should work (and has for me). Which tile are you using? The spray tool is time-based, so holding down the mouse for longer will give you more. The click itself only counts for 50 ms of placement. You can change the rate of spray - that's to the right of the shape selector.

Groups would be good, though how to express that in the UI is a question. Might be good to have some predefined.

I need to make tilesets themselves support variants for the tiles themselves as well. The White Church tileset, for example, has a number of variants of its basic wall, and right now it uses the same one over and over again.

I was trying with some trees in Wall 1 but it painted nothing. It did work for Wall Sets and Floor 1.

By the way, on the Desert Tent tileset, any idea how you do corners with the middle-height roof? There doesn't seem to be one without a post.
