Topic: Mini Map - Ping Showing Player Location

You can repeatedly use the mini-map's ping feature to view far away areas. There seems to be a distance limit for showing the radar blips of NPCs and monsters, but it will show player blips.

This seems exploitable, because you can remotely scan around the map to locate players.

Re: Mini Map - Ping Showing Player Location

The server only sends player locations for players that are vaguely near them, so it can't be used in this manner.

(It's hard to say if this is a bug or a feature -- if you want to tell someone in your party about a location that's far away, this is the way to do it.)

Re: Mini Map - Ping Showing Player Location

Mmm, I don't mean the ping (blue star animation) that shows a location to your party.
I mean the beige colored dots. Those are player locations, and I'm nowhere near them, nor are they in my party. Maybe the server makes exception for a GM character and is showing me player locatios? I didn't consider that.

But if not, then anyone can use the ping feature to scan around the map and locate player locations even if you're not in a party.

Not a really glaring problem but seems exploitable if that is meant to be concealed.
