Topic: a legit way to buy gm spawned items +and gm gold piece sales.

The main issue with the faldon economy is its fluctuating item prices and the lack of gold to actually pay for an item , The items have an artificial value and are traded most of the time not by gold but the assumed value of another item . With a certain player hoarding gold its made it hard to value items  and actually trade them or buy items because of the mystery of their value.

Trust me , Im a republican . Im not normally for control or big brother regulations , but i think it would be a great idea to offer legit GM spawned item and Gold sales to help regulate item prices and make Illusory some money.  I look at it like this, If a GM spawned Skull blade was offered by the server for $50.00 and they sold gold  at the rate of $20 per Mil gp , a Skull blade is worth 2.5mil gold . Maybe a little less once traded in game, but it would always be worth about the same thing.  They could also regulate the value of gold by changing the value of which its sold for by illusory.

Ive spent plenty of money buying items from other players, when illusory could have been the one cashing in on that.

I would imagine the reason why this hasnt been done yet is to not scare away new players because of the implied cost to play faldon, But the fact of the matter is players are constantly selling items for $ so they will get this idea if they stay on the game for any amount of time. You wouldnt have to advertise it on the main website, or even advertise it at all , it could be kind of side option under account on the website or something.

I think it would be really cool for illusory to make some more cash , to fund the expansion of the game or use for advertisement to gain new players. It would also help to end our hoarder problem . Im a firm believer in the trickle down effect, so i believe it would also help to shorten the gap and make it easier for new players to make money from doing stuff in game.

Not really, it wouldnt effect those who wish to hoard all there stuff, they can still hoard what ever they want, but people will still have the opportunity to get the things they want/need

It would also flood the market with New items as opposed to the old ones just making their rounds between players.

Spawning gold wouldn't drop the price of items, it would just make the items cost even more.

Also, if this Were to ever happen, keep the prices for the items in USD at their current average "market" price.

Say a Skull Blade is being sold for $150, keep it at $150 for a spawned price, don't undercut the players. Make the players that sell have to undercut the server.

I think this is a terrible idea as an unlimited supply of items to be sold.

MAYBE, and I mean maybe, if there were a Random rare item that could be purchased for say.. $15 once a month, one per account. That could generate some revenue for the game, without flooding the market of everyone going out and buying Skull Blades and ect.

So far, I haven't seen the GMs or anyone from Illusory really worried about money though, but who knows~

So let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me "V"

I've always been heavily against micro-transaction business models that allow players to purchase items that provide distinct in-game advantages.  This model has always backfired when other companies have attempted it because people who are more willing to spend real money end up hording the wealth because they can circumvent the in-game economy.  This ends up creating a greatly inflated player economy and, in turn, makes the game completely unplayable for new players or those who just wish to pay their monthly subscription fee.

In the end, you end up making a large initial profit which then tapers off due to the fact that you deter potentially new subscribers.  Also, considering the fact a game of this nature is best marketed to countries where the average players don't have access to higher end PC's to run more modern games (i.e. Brazil), it would be counter productive to run on a model that requires you to purchase items in-game.

While micro-transactions can make a game tons of money, the most successful may to implement it is by selling items that are cosmetic, selling stat resets, and selling access to new content.

Gold hoarding is only good untill the prices actually drop and those who hoard have large amounts of gold screw up the economy again. The real way to fix it would be an inflation . If not make items GM spawnable by USD u could make them all purchasable with gold, And make gold purchasable with USD.

And pennywise obviously ignored what i said in lowering the value of items in USD so people could actually afford to have them .

I think if you look at a game like racewarkingdoms.com , They have made thousands of dollars off gm spawned items , and there player base has tappered off but only because its a browser based text game..

Spawned and sold items would absolutely have a negative effect on the player base.  Players who have an income stream already have a leg up (thanks to Citizenship and things like stat resets), but selling items would take away the RPG elements of the game and make it pointless for players who want to take the standard (aka earning your items rather than buying them) path.

The real issue is that Faldon has no "endgame" and it wasn't built to scale to this degree of player levels and this much money in the economy.  There are ways to fix the economy, but virtually all of them involve a wipe.
