im having trouble patching, will it patch without internet explorer installed? im using firefox

By patching you mean downloading the Setup I assume, if so.. What exactly is the problem? What shows up or what does not show up.

You do need IE installed IIRC. In fact, I think Windows relies on IE so you probably have it installed anyway.

What error are you running into?
IIRC that patcher does use WININET (Internet Explorer's HTTP library), which came with IE 3 or 4 I think.
That said, even if IE isn't installed, unless you are on Windows 95, you should have WININET (it's considered "part of the OS"). What OS, what error, etc.?
