Topic: Hail, and well met.

Zer, Lothar, et al

I used to play this game many, many moons ago as Norman.  I was a GM for a short period and ran the guild Monolith (We had the first Faldon guild hall).  Any of y'all still around?

Does my account still exist Zer?  Can i log in?!

Based on your 1 other post, from 4 years ago, asking the same thing - no you can't log in using that account.

I used to play the game as Norman back in...maybe 1999?  I can't remember exactly, but it was during the first incarnation of this game.  Back when there were no level caps, Earthquake was rampantly abused, and Monolith was a scary, scary guild.

I remember a few guys, Antabus, Thorne, Brimstone, and Lothar to name a few.  Any of you oldtimers still around?  HI!

There have been 2, or possibly 3 (it was unclear whether you were playing church map or desert map - desert map had the first guild halls, but Thorne and Brimstone were mostly checked out by the time desert map rolled around) new clients with complete server wipes since then.

I don't remember Antabus, and Thorne and Brimstone have been gone for well over a decade.  Zer has been hands-off of the game for several years, much to it's detriment.  And I assume the Lothar that you're talking about is not the same as the one that was around on this client.

MumbleNutts!! You still smell of old cheese big guy.

Norman - I am an old timer from Faldon's first days (and before that when Zer was involved in The Odyssey with Bugaboo).

The mention of the First Guild Halls reminded me of the old school bug to get into guild halls... Using the BOATS! Not too many people around now would remember the boats. You used to be able to get into guild halls via "wall hacking" by using boats and eGate as there was a slight offset in character position. The good times! Oh, and also the 4 directions of movement vs 8 and bugging "Death" when he could only move 4 directions and could not attack or move diagonally.

Angeldust,

Isn't that back when the golems or whatever couldn't be see diagonally? Or was it they could only be seen diagonally...

So let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me "V"

Re: Hail, and well met.

There were several enemies that only had 4-directional art, so when they were moving diagonally there was no art to display.  There were also enemies that had 8 directional art, but could only attack 4-directionally, so people would find a spot where two buildings intersected at a corner, and attack through that corner without fear of being attacked back.  I think that was one of the earliest AFK leveling cheats.

Angeldust, your boat comment reminds me of my old favorite pastime - getting in boat form (in the fountain) and then teleporting through town on land still as a boat.  I used to love driving my boat to the bank.

Re: Hail, and well met.

He played on Church map not Desert. And it did have guildhalls, although there were only a handful.

The wall hacking was great, made for some fun guild wars.
